I’ve already gone through withdrawal. Will you still give me Methadone?

The doctor will assess your medical and drug use history and determine if treatment is right for you. If you are accepted your initial dose will be 5mg to 10mg instead of the normal 10mg to 30mg for people currently using opioids. Dose increases will also be low at 5mg or less every five days.

I heard some people get very high doses. Is this true?

Some people get doses over 120mg due to an innate tolerance to opioids. Some people metabolize Methadone at a higher rate than normal. These people may require a higher dose – or a split dose where two smaller doses are taken daily instead of one normal dose. These conditions are rare and you’ll probably fall into the normal category.
